Your body remembers.(Part 2)

Eventually, your feelings have become your means of thinking because you don’t know how to think greater than how your body feels.

This means, that really your life is defined by your past. That means you will face a predictable future, because your emotionally stuck on repeat, just like a broken CD player.  Your stuck every day in a cycle of thinking and feeling and feeling and thinking.

This really means that you’ve lost your free will, because your programmed body and automatic thoughts are in control, not your consciously aware mind. We don’t look at it that way of course, because we become addicted to our beliefs, feelings and emotions in the same way that someone may become addicted to drugs. Our compulsive stream of continuous automatic thoughts and our emotional state are so real, that we automatically believe they are an accurate and a true reflection of who we are.

The problem with that is, eventually people need the rush of that negative emotion to feel anything at all. Because if that feeling, drama or crisis wasn’t there, they wouldn’t know who they were. This is because the emotion has become their identity.

So eventually they create or look for crisis and drama in their own lives. Or subconsciously generate stressful memories and trigger off and recreate these familiar feelings – everyone knows somebody like this.

In part a problem is, we see our thoughts, beliefs and feelings as truths, not ideas that we can change.

We condition our minds to believe all sorts of things that aren’t necessarily accurate and true, based on how our bodies feel and how we made sense of the past experiences in our lives. And many of these things have a negative impact on our health, happiness and wellbeing.

That’s because your feelings and thoughts have become your identity. As in… “I am depressed, I am angry… I am anxious”. When in reality, it’s a feeling that your body has remembered. Plus, a state of being that your body is in, which has influenced your thoughts and changed your brain chemistry.

Eventually this is all your body knows how to feel, anything else doesn’t feel right and doesn’t feel like ‘you’.

Even if everything was genuinely going well in your life and nothing bad was happening to you, you don’t see it. Your blind to it, asleep to it. You can’t ‘smell the roses’ , in fact, you can’t even see the roses or the garden.

You cannot help but feel and live this way, because it has become your most automatic and stable state of being. It makes sense that you struggle to feel happy, peaceful, encouraged, or relaxed, because those feelings and chemicals are unfamiliar to your body and mind.

Then when you occasionally forget yourself or make an effort to change or get help, your body essentially looks up at your mind and says… “ahh what are you doing? We haven’t practiced this. I’m not used to feeling this way, can you change it back please. We’re in survival mode here, get with the program!”.

Then you can put money on it, that within a short time, your body will begin to feel agitated and put your mind under pressure. In essence, your body is bullying your mind. Your sense of joy evaporates your focus on the good things in life blows away in the wind and your mood and state of being return to ‘normal’

Whether its depressed, angry, guilty, flat, sad, anxious, ashamed or traumatised.
